Hello all thanks for your help!

I have a 02 acura CL-S:

Alpine CDA-9886 (running stock Mids and Highs)

JL 10w3v3 with a 250/1 running it

Here is where I need help:

I can get a JBL PX 300.4 or a PX 600.2 either one same price

and

JBL GTI Component speakers for the front doors.

My friend has suggested that I not run any back speakers and use the 600.2 to power them. He said they are rated at 150wrms... 400w peak

I have always had 4 speakers in my cars and I am afraid I may not like the sound just coming from the front.

What do you guys think?

most guys now are running setups with no speakers in the back, however i have always had speakers in the back, so it basically comes down to personal preference...

it is preference for the most part but if you have a powerful enough front stage there really is no reason for rear fill. And I haven't heard too many positive things about jbl comps...might want to go another route. JBL amps however are very good imo.

Get a nice 4 channel, run the 2 speaker setup. If you don't like it, do the 4 channel setup.

You dont miss any sound behind you at a concert, and you definitly dont stand facing away from the band at a show, so rear fill is up to you. If it means more power or better highs up front you are probbaly makign the right decision...

having rear speakers can mess up your soundstage by pulling it back and down. A good pair of comps will provide more than enough sound to fill anything smaller than a large SUV, and will sound better. However, some people can't nix the rear fill. It's all personal taste.

If it were my system, I would buy the four channel and a pair of comps, and run an active setup with no rear fill. If you decide you need rear fill, you can throw in the passive crossovers, and you will have an extra pair of channels to power a nice set of coaxes for the back.

Wow thanks for all the advice... I am not sure of the model GTI, so I am not sure I can run the 4 channel with the comps... can any of the GTI be done that way?

as far as sound, I listened to set in my friends truck that is all JBL and it sounded freaking great...ofcourse he is beta testing a jbl 7.1 system... so that my have something to do with it
