so I was doing a bit of research on how to remove the stock deck in the cavalier, its a 96. I was told to remove the screws on the sides of the dash in where the door closes, and a few in the glove box area, and the air vent on the dash? just wondering if anyone could clarify that with me.

Also, I read something about these cars not having a 12V+ switched wire so i'll have to tap into something, is that true for the 96s?

Thanks

The dash at first can be a pain but after you've done a few its quick and easy. My 96 had a screw that you had to access through the top side of the glove compartment. I missed it at first and couldn't figure out for the life of me why the dash wouldn't come out. Just be cautious and if it seems stuck somewhere do not force it as that panel will crack. I'm sure if you check out one of the many dedicated cavalier forums on the web you would find a tutorial on how to remove the dash. As far as the 12V+ switched wire there was one in my 96 so I don't think you will run into a problem there.

yeah that's what I've been looking at, everywhere is saying that whole top part of the dash has to come apart as well, is this true; just to get at the deck?
yes sir. you pull the whole dash and basically got your passenger airbag staring you in the face. fun times.

also, be sure to use a spacer in the dash kit.

i did that on an ex friends car, me and him were sitting there with the dash off just looking at the air bag and i dropped the screw driver in my hand by accident and just dropped to the floor lol, shit didnt go off, but i was scared, it would hvae been smart to find the fuse for the air bag, lol
