Question For Magnum D2 Owners

Just got an E-mail from Nick with the tracking number so I guess I better go get an enclosure for it. I'm curious as to what others that have one are using as far as box size for it. For now I'm going sealed with it and am thinking somewhere around 1.5 or so before displacement. Anyway just curious.

go ported.. its good sealed.. but done right it comes alive like frankenstien ported.

BTW I love SQ. I have it in a 3.3cub box with dual 4" ports.

It gets loud when I want it to, too.

D

Although now all I need to do is get my arse up to tulsa and sell it to Arch.

1.5 sealed should sound great........add some polyfill to it and see if you like it better with that......

Personally, I'd go ported in about 2 cubes tuned to 28hz.........with about 24sq. in. of port area.

Fiberglass insulation works better Kevin. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif But your recommendation was good though. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

But then again, I know nothing. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Currently doing a 5 cubic ft box tuned to 42 hz....for a friend. Mine is 4.5 cubic ft, tuned to 45 hz.

I don't suggest the above specs...In my experience, 2 cubes 32 hz sounds amazing.

is that for one or two subs? how does 10.31 cuft before displacement sound for two subs. tuned to 38..... would you tune it lower for daily driving or would i lose to much volume. and i need lots of BASS yet maintain some SQ thats y i chose the D2

no.. don't do a box that big.. for any reason...

2 cuft per woofer tuned low performs fantastic... rip your head off..

I'm running the largest box of any Magnum user.. and I only have 3.95 cuft per woofer.. and its not a daily box...

they do not perform well in giant boxes..

http://www.subzoneusa.com/z_series.htm, just out of curiosity what does everyone think of this box? I've been looking into some pre-made ones from a few shops and nobody has one exactly 1.5 sealed and I kinda wanted to stay within what was recommended at the SI site, I saw one but it was only 1.25 before displacement and I thought it was kinda small since I was shooting for 1.2 - 1.5 after displacement. This one seemed kinda stout with 1" MDF and all. I know everyone recommends building your own but I really don't have the time or equipment to do one. Anyway I appreciate the replies.

Sure.........if you wanna get all itchy.........

That subzone box should work quite well for the magnum.......if you're gonna get a pre-fab, I'd go with it.

Thats way too big...both of the boxes that I was talking about are for 2 subs.
