I've been an installer for big box stores for the last two and a half years... and I think with the way politics are at circuit city right now it might be time for me to move on. I got a job offer to work at a local shop(http://www.dukescarstereo.com) as a installer. They said they can give me all the hours I want and with my experience I would have no problem doing anything. They also said I would be taught to tint windows.
The only thing that is holding me back... the pay. Pay is comission based, 50% of every install you do... and if you don't do any installs that day you get minimum wage.
Is this how most local shops work or not? I mean it would be cool to work on some of the stuff that they do, but does that pay seem right?
