Ok, im powering 3 subs. each with a 300RMS max.
So I obviously need at least 900RMS from an amp, and I figured a 1000W Mono amp is my best bet.
Heres the question, when im looking at amps and their features, I see things like this:
Mono subwoofer amplifier
1,000 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms
640 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms
Ok, so my subs are 4ohm DVC woofers; but i know that when you wire 3 subs to a mono amp, the mono input is pushing about 2.7ohms. Correct?
So im really confused about amp descriptions like the one above. Does 1,000 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms mean that if the mono input is pushing 2 ohms, your subs have 1000W?
If this is the case, and I'm correct about the fact that 3 subs into a mono amp pushes it's input to 2.7ohms, then how many watts will my subs get from an amp that has 1,000 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms?
(If I'm simply wrong about everything I'm saying, A quick lesson in how this sh*t works would be greatly appreciated!)
Thanks,
