Question about wiring!
Yes, they are in fact mono sub outs, in which case, it appears to be wired correct. this is good, since your subs share the same airspace.
from pg 23 of this: http://www.docs.sony.com/release/CDXGT700HD_EN_ES.pdf

Subwoofer output terminal (mono)
Power antenna (aerial) relay control terminal
Power amplifier control terminal
@quackhead Are having mono-subs outputs and advantage or a disadvantage. When I get a proper mono-block amp how will play be affected since mono-amps have separate channels? I read that mono-block amps have 2 amps built inside, one for each subwoofer. Is that correct, perhaps I am not remembering details verbatim. And thanks for the amp recommendation, really helps to have some options, though I doubt I could really go wrong with the Kenwood.

@quackhead BTW can you get back to me on #7 in this thread. Replace the patch or the entire Fosgate line. That Fosgate line leads all the way out from the positive on the batter to the amp in a Y. Thanks.

you want to replace the RCA.

you do not want to combine the RCA outputs into one. The deck won't like that.

you can leave it split as you have now, but as is mentioned above, some signal is lost.

I wrote this strictly based on the owners manual info.

Without actually seeing the sub outs on your Sony, I cannot verify if you have 1 single subwoofer rca pre-out, or 2 subwoofer rca pre-outs. If you pull the deck, and verify that the Rockford cable is attached to separate (2) sub out RCA's, replace the Rockford cable. You should not need the Y adapter your installer used as a band-aid.

99% of monoblock amps have Right and Left channel RCA inputs, just like your Kenwood. The difference is the Kenwood is a 2 channel stereo amp, and a Monoblock sums the Right and Left channels to a single channel in the input section. If a monoblock amp has more than one set of +/- speaker outs, it is to simplify hooking up multiple speakers. Still one mono amplifier channel.

ps, Keep_Hope_Alive knows their stuff.
Lot of information, not really sure I'm ready to understand it all being that I am a mere beginner.

@quackhead are you suggesting I should buy something like this (see photo below), or replace the entire power line fosgate wire with a new one?

What i'll do for now is do more testing to see if any alternating additional rhythms are being lost by him puting a small rca y connector to the right subwoofer power line in. Not really sure if by doing this if the rhythms of bass are joined mono (as opposed to the audio information going out into separate channels just because he put a y connector on the left channel). The problem was definitely the wiring. As I had previously stated the bass would in one of the line leading into the amp would not start hitting until I turned the volume past 30-35. The way he had the amp wired down was actually smashed on top of all the wires, so that could have been a reason for the short. I need to remount my amp. Doesn't seem like the right thing to do, to have the amp screwed down on top of the wires.

Replace the HU to Amp RCA cable, not the power cables
A lot of installers run the wires under the amp, it makes the connections LOOK clean and uncluttered. BUT it is not recommended and is not the proper way to do a CLEAN install..It would be better to have them loose and routed with plastic tie wraps in strategic places, than crimped under the belly of an amplifier...especially one like yours that produces a lot of heat, not to mention the possible introduction of electrical interference.

Typically what is the cut of length of a head unit to amp rca cable? Can you suggest some decent brands, perhaps provide a link to an example. I don't want to use none of stock rca wiring my guy will probably try and use. It shouldn't be too hard to install it myself. I had Fosgate wire, seems a shame to have to replace it, but oh well.

@keep_hope_alive

could you please recommend me a class d mono-block 1ohm amp in the $250.00 range. My subs are 400RMS/800Peak. Thank you. I realize it's not that much money, be better off spending more, I may but for now that is the price bracket.
If you look on ebay you can find jl's for 15.00 or so I had a rca go bad and patched it the way your's was and ordered 3 pair of the jl's for like 45.00 shipped.
Thanks for the recommendations. My conclusion is that indeed certain bass rythyms are not isolated to individual speakers (as in left right stereo) with that type of patch. In other words Bass that was meant to hit either speaker is conjoined to both speakers as one, not either or. I could not definitively say that beats were missing with the patch my dealer put on it, but certain tempos seemed to be. Luckily I took the head unit out and it's working again after checking on some wiring. It will definitely have to be replaced, for now it's fine.
...but like someone else here said, you can go to Wal-Mart and buy Stinger or maybe Scoche that would be suitable for your current equipment. just make sure you buy the right length. Don't buy 25' if 14' is all you need.
I had no idea you could buy stinger at Walmart. Not a bad brand at all. Length 14-17 got you. By the way, I pulled my head unit out and this is what I saw. What do you think of this @quackhead. It looks to me as if it's hooked up mono?

I like these for the replacement. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_17708_Kicker-XI25-09XI25.html

What the hell?!?! You sure that's the sub out??? Are the others front, rear, and aux in?

Could be stereo internally. Ther are two wires.

The fosgate wire is the sub out wire. But I also have it leading out from my battery positive with a 100watt fuse. I don't know. As for the used amp, what did you find?

If I like it I'll buy it new. I'm not really against refurbished per se, rather have new though. There is a rumor sonixelectronic sells refurbished items new, but I don't know

if it's just a rumor.

@keep_hope_alive - those are the sub outs, the 6 on deck are F/R/L/R and a L/R BUS IN....I had to google and zoom that one, lol.

@Jaguar
Those RCA's will work..I just like Monster Cable, but that is me. I just got a suspicion that there is an assy line somewhere that spits those things out and about every 3rd one is labeled Kicker, or JL, or....u see my point. lol I have seen some go from $7.50 all the way to $750.00 for a 1 meter pair, just depends on what YOU want.
