question about wave guides

So, ive purchased 2 SA-12s, and dl'ed the "recommended box" for dual sa-12s from sundown. The dimensions actually fits the rear of a 3rd gen crv perfect..

So, being that sundown owner jacob knows his subs, are they needed in this case? i was under assumption they help with port velocity. Do they have anything to do with efficiency?

I also was wondering if i should consider the guides space they occupy and add to the depth of box that displaces them.

I like the thought of wave guides, as it is SO MUCH more solid, via braced corners. Lets just say i see things through an engineers mind.

Thoughts?

Are u talking about adding 45s in the corner of ur box? Wtf is a wave guide ?
yes.

I was considering a "wave guide" on every 90' on the box . 45' all the way around, and have the verticals tie in at a 35'..

Thats how i heard it described on a few different websites.

Heres what i had in mind: The reds what i want to add, the black is what ill take off of the port to keep proper opening

Just was wondering if i should take it into consideration of box design.

Thanks

Increases tuning and takes away some airspace. Benefits would be better airflow, better bracing. Just make your enclosure just a tad bigger to compensate for displacement of the 45s. Sand off any sharp corners too. If you want to get technical measure out the volume of a triangular prism and subtract it from your net

Would take away quite a bit of net airspace.
absolutely. i would add to the math for that. i just guessing a 1/4" to 1/2" added to the depth

How wide would be considered "effective"?

2" from outside corner to corner ok? - on the 45's??

On that size enclosure 2" would suffice yes.
