Well I recently bought an Alpine 7995. Its an older SQ unit and it does the job but it seems like it doest get as loud as the Pioneer D3 I had before.

The volume goes to 35(as per manual) and I have to turn it up to 30 to get a decent amount of volume from the radio.

I adjust the gains but still nothing.

I had the same problem with an older Eclipse 8554 ( or simalr number cant remember)

It didnt get "loud" it did sound good but I like my music loud //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

I recently ordered a Pionner 6000ub and im going to see if that fixes my problems.

but is this what sq units are about. More or less sounding great but with minimal volume?

SQ units are about sounded good and having more tuning options. Pioneer has a "loud" feature which boosts the higher and lower frequencies which makes things louder. Also before I found my Pioneer to be quiet compared to others. Change the SLA for it to be higher on the CD player.

Well ive owned a number of Pioneer radios . 6700mp,960 mp, d3, 7800mp just to name a few

and ive always liked them

I think Pioneer is going to be my HU of choice from now on
