Question about shape

I have a 1986 monte carlo ss that i am trying to build a custom box for. I have 2 12" 900watt Xplodes(got them for free a few months ago). I have been running them in premades but they take up most of my trunk space since they dont fit on the upper self in the trunk. The subs are recommended to have a sealed box of 1 cubic foot each. Since i have to worry about my rear speakers which hang down, i need to have a odd shapped box.

Is this shape exceptable and will it sound good?

Alright well i think i figured out the demensions for it to fit in my car. As long as a weird shape wont cause any problems i am cool. Thanks for answering quickly.

I would get new subs but i lost my job. I am just doing odd jobs at for my dads company, like tune ups on his companys trucks. Like i said i got them for free and they work decent for now. Next thing on my list is a decent headunit(the dual the previous owner installed sucks) and then kick panels.

by the way i was able to figure a design out without the triangluar part. Its ok to the the sub not directly in the center correct? if they have to be in the center i will have to find a different way to mount the amp....

ok thanks guys! Tonight my dad and i are going to cut the peices and start putting the box together! i will post pics when i am done //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I dont have it installed at the moment because my positive wire just happens to come up through the floor right where the box goes. I have to drill a new hole farther back and weld up the old one. I will do this tommarow and then post pics.

Dont mind the overuse of liquid nails, I also used silicon inside.

The amp is accually mounted up off of the box to allow for the wires to run over the top of the box and to the terminals //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

We sat the box in there and tested it and it seems to do very well, Both chambers are 1 cubic foot and sealed tight.

I will carpet it later on when i have the time.

aside from the equipment it looks good. Nice job

thank you, I hope to replace my subs and amp with Pioneer Premier componets in the future. Got the subs for free and could only afford that amp at the time. I need a new Headunit first, pervious owner installed a Dual but i blew the backlight out.

good news is i have pioneer speakers already //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

From what I understand unless you have a perfect cub box, you shouldn't have any cancelation issues.
Even having a perfect cube is irrelevant for subbass. The wavelengths are far too long to have to worry about standing waves within the enclosure.

my best friend has a 1986 monte carlo ss that we're doing a custom ported box for 1 12" assassin in. gonna "wall" off that back shelf to make it look like that is the back of the trunk; should be very nice. 2 cubes tuned to 31 Hz

i love those cars
