Question About setting gain on 2-Channel Amp

i have a pg 200.2 so it does 200 x 2 @ 1-4 ohms....i have it wired at 3 ohm.....do i find the square root of 400 x 3 or 200 x 3 to get the voltage for setting the gain??......it only has one gain knob if that matters

btw, with gain all the way up the voltage is too low for it to be either formula

c'mon people...a lil help plz.......right now i have gain all the way up and i dont hear any distortion but i wouldnt think id need it all the way up for a 400 watt amp off of 4v preouts.....and with gain all the way up i only get 18v reading.....meaning its only putting out 108 watts ( not sure if thats per channel or total tho)

(200*3)=600

sq root of 600 = 24.495 volts

set just one channel and the other will be exactly the same.

just use either the right or left channel on the amp and set it that way.

i think this is the correctw ay to do it.

so you have the gain all the way up at its only putting out about 100 watts.. sounds like something is wrong there. Either the install or the amp itself isnt right.

what on my hu could be the problem? i had volume at 61/62 & eq on flat.......i used the tones posted on the forum.... its 1000 Hz at -3 db

Where are your crossovers set? Also, I don't think you can set the Xenons using the tutorial. The XeLoad circuit checks the load every time the amp is powered up and sets the voltage rails accordingly. With an open circuit who knows what it will do.

ahhh i figured it out i think.....my hpf on my HU was set at -24db for some odd reason....but how would i set the gains if i cant use the tutorial??
