Question About Running Additional Battery For Amplifier??

Im new to car audio, and this may sound like a dumb question...If i were to add an additional battery (say in my trunk for example) would it also have to be wired up to my alternator in order to run power cable from my amp to it? can someone explain how it would work to me? all tips/advice appreciated. thanks

All you have to do is run 0/gauge from pos to pos, neg to neg, bat to bat. Dont mess with anything else.

Run + from front batt to 2nd batt, then to amp. And run - from amp to 2nd batt, then ground it.

i kind of have the same issue and it seems like everybody and they momma wires it differently. but the way ram explains it seems like the right way.
