Question About RE

At what point did they become bad, and are they really all that bad now?

How can you tell if its an old one or new one? If it doesnt have the "i" or "x" in the name, is it an original good one? If not, does the b00b cone mean its a good one? Is there something in the listed specs that is different?

Back in summer of 07 I got an SE 12 that still works and sounds great to this day. It wasnt the plain brown box, it came in a grey box with whatever designs on it.

Like these, they arent SRXs, it says they are just SRs,

RE Audio SR12

And they have b00b cone REs,

RE Audio RE12

Is it possible those are good ones that they have just had in stock that never sold?

How do they (the originals and the new stuff) compair to the newer stuff like SSA and Sundown?

If that SR 12 is legit, for $110 shipped, I might grab one.

first off the se is 600rms not 1000. not a old skool **** dustcap. the motors were all the same just soft parts.

older se flt wound alum coil and single med spiders, new round wire alum and a soft spider...

It says 600rms in the specs. For some reason they make up some rating in the title for just about all the subs. Ive seen others rated like 175rms in the specs, but it calls it a 250w.

easiest way to tell between new and old RE is the basket design. the new ones are all covered in plastic casing.

new RE also uses shorter tinsel leads which causes them to break a lot more easily

Anything with an X in the series name is going to be Chinese built.

Any SE that has ever come in anything other than a brown box is Chinese made. The last year of SE production looked like the old SE's, but came in an orange or grey box with US amps all over it. They're Chinese.

I personally oversaw the 1st production of Chinese SE's in China. They were well-built, as I was there to stop any mix-up's or improperly built products before they were packaged. The 2nd run of SE's.... LOL They weren't so great without someone watching over the production.
