question about RCA cables

hey guys this may sound dumb but do the twisted rca's really make a difference. i have a jvc exad kd-lhx500 h/u and my amp is a rockford 301m punch wich is a 900 watts and its pushing one rockford p3 10. my rcas right now are from a cheap wiring kit, should i upgrade my rca's or keep the ones im using now

thanks

i think length can sometime play a role. Personally i have never noticed a difference in quality. If its not broken, don't fix it. As long as what you have is getting the job done, i would leave it alone. Then again, if you get new rca's, you can put it in your sig. How cool is that. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif

With RCAs, I think it's more important that you route it correctly and away from power cables etc to get a clean signal. I would have to think howerver that there is a difference between the good cables that cost like 100 bucks from TIF or monster cable vs. ones from kragen that cost 5 bucks.

The theory behind twisted-pair cables is that they're more noise resistant. If all you're running is a subwoofer, though, you're never going to hear a difference unless your existing cables are actually defective.

If you are not getting any noise then there is no reason to mess with it. Routing near power cables doesn't matter either as long as you are using a basic shielded RCA. Mine are ziptied to my power wires over about a 3 foot length. No noise. The only real difference between my $20ish Stinger Bullet RCAs and $100 Monster/TIFF/Audioquest RCAs is I paid less for all 3 of mine and all my speaker and most of my power wire than just one set of the expensive ones.

i dont think you need to change your cables like the guys said but example here.

My brother and i were into car stereo years ago ( i still am) and he had a head unit that we ran a 20 ft rca to in an 86 escort gt he had. Now the system had no noise using them but i told him man 20 ft is too long and radioshack rcas are junk i think. So he switched them to metra rcas (average level brand) from a local shop here and they were like 15 ft i think; shorter is the point but thats not all. We actually heard the volume of the music increase at the same previous volume on the head unit verses the radio shack rcas. Just thought some of you might like to hear that quality sometimes makes a difference or radio shack rcas are junk lol either way there you go.

thanks,

now, cheap cables also have cheap connectors, so you might have a cable fall off or not be able to stay connected after a few months...but that's what you get for more $$$, I guess. Personally, I use PG interconnects, think I paid somewhere around $30 for a 20' length to go to my 1200.1, and a three foot run daisy-chained to the 500.2. No difference from the Monster 201XLN I had with my Avi 800.2.

lil story. bought a home sony sub. came with some cheap *** sub cable. went to CC, saw it set up. played it with my cable (stock). noise like a mother. they quickly put in a monster cable. perfect sound. bought the cable. went home, tried it. no difference. went back, and asked. took off the stock one they had. theyed shaved it so youd get more noise. cables dont make a diff. je morgan taught me that.

quick ? for you guys... i noticed my buddy has his rca's in backwards on his amp, when i switched them around there was no difference in sound? is this normal?
I think the only way it can possibly make a difference is if the RCAs have an interference filter (capacitor) on it, which needs to be on the amp side.
