question about ohms and strapping

http://www.mtx.com/caraudio/products/amplifiers/thunder92001.cfm for this amp it says it does 4000rms with two strapped at 4 ohms. i have 2 DVC 2 ohm l7s. each can be wire th 4 ohm, does this mean that i can wire each one to one amp with 4 ohms and they will get 4000 rms? or do they have to be connected to only one amp?

strapping is similar to bridging, except the amplifiers are not in the same heatsink/chassis.

for your case, you could hook up 2 amps per woofer and get 8kW. if you had 4ohm DVCs you could put 2 amps per 4ohm coil and get 8kW per woofer, 16kW total, from 8 amplifiers.

this feature makes a lot of sense for competitive purposes.
