Hello everyone, I just have a quick question about my amp and subs.

Well, first off I have 2 12" alpine type r's on my audiobahn amp wired to two ohms.

I got dimming on my lights even though I got two batteries(although this is not my question).

My question is, since im having light dimming, doesn't this meen I am drawing a lot of power? my subs are probably only getting 500 rms total but the thing is I got 4 awg ran to my amp and 18 awg for speaker wire.

To get to the point, In my mind, since I have such small speaker wire, shouldnt they be getting warm or even hot since im drawing so much power?

also, if I changed to like 8 awg wire, would it get louder?(or would I just have less resistance?)

How about you play some music for a little while, then go feel your speaker wire and see if its getting warm. If it is then upgrade to a thicker gauge.
no there not getting warm. what im saying is, shouldnt they? my wires are so small to my speakers and I got light dimming.... shoudlnt they be getting hot?

Is the amp really not pulling what I think its pulling?

please upgrade to a thicker gauge. i had those gauges. and i was only runnin 300 watts and my wires were hot as fcuk. even started to blacken.
see thats, the wierd thing... I dont notice anything getting hot, or warm even.

Also, are you talking about amp wires or the speaker wires?

might be an amp problem? or u got a good alt/batt?
everything is stock.... I had another car, but it got totaled and I took the vat out of it and put it in my trunk..... Now that I added it, my lights dont dim NEAR as much as they used to. So I think its better....

but you see, I dont know what 500 rms sounds like.... So am I getting what I should be? My father looked at all my wires and asked me, "why do you have all that big wire on your amp and not for your speekers." and it got me thinking that it was kind of wierd since they wernt getting hot and that they were so small......

So am I getting all the watss I should be? is the reason my wires arnt getting hot because im not getting enougph power?

Should I maintane a 14volt?

because I got a goo 12v the whole time....

Do I need bigger batts, bigger alt, bigger wires?

back in the day like 6 years ago, i burned through some speaker wire because it was too little. i had some bose shit, cant remember the awg, but it was tiny. i would upgrade just for the simple saying "better safe than sorry."

yes, I plan on upgrading.it any way, but I was just wondering if my lights are dimming on two batts.... So I was thinking, if my lights are dimming....shouldnt my skinny as wires get hott?

Upgrade To A 12-8gauge Speaker Wire Inside Box And To The Amp. 2nd Is The Wire To Your Batts And Alt. 4gauge. Then Put A Battery Isolator Between The Batts And Fuse Both The Some High Enough To Handle The Fuse Rating On The Amp. You Should Always Upgrade Alternator
