Question about my lights dimming.

My lights use to dim alot before when I had an Audiobahn a1300hct amplifier running my L7s. Then when I connected my Orion 2500d and had the gain all the way up the lights dimmed like crazy kinda like strobe lights. Now I have the gain all the way down and the system is way louder than it was before with the Audiobahn a1300hct, but my lights hardly dim (not noticeable). Why is this?

Differences in current draw due to varying amplifier efficiency and output power. Less current drawn, less light dimming occurs. As more current starts to be drawn, voltage will drop and your lights will dim.

one explanation for it being louder with the gain turned down could be that now the gain is set correctly(or rather, more correctly than before). this makes the amp work properly, and in turn, yields a more pleasant outcome //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Another reason for it being louder is a better amp.

Another reason for it being louder is a better amp.

Lights still dimmed when I first connected my L7s to my Orion and blew them.

set the gains right.....and if you excepted to get no dimming from a 2500d on a stock electrical you need to research more before you buy.....you also dont need that many watts for a L7, at least from my experience.

I did expect dimming obviously, if im saying that it dimmed with my Audiobahn and now it doesn't thats why im like wtf because im way louder than before and no dimming.

It is a class d amp is why. They are more effecient.

The reason why your lights were diming alot when your first hooked it up was because you cranked up the gains. When you turn the gains down you are getting a better voltage. Now if you really want to shit your pants. Get a bigger altenator and do the big 3 and then turn your amp up most of the way, but not maxed and you will be rattling your nutz off.

Is this common with Orion's? My stock electrical is a 130alternator and 630cca battery. Im running two 15" L7s with the gains all the way down because my DMM isn't working and I blew my L7s before so I don't want to take the chance of blowing them again.
