Question about mp3

I am relatively new to downloading music and mp3s. I tried to turn a song into a mp3 and then into a ringtone but that failed. That is the extent of my knowledge of mp3s.

I want some deal like this Ipod shuffle this guy has at work. It is small and okay. However, the music sounds like garbage. I do not know if this is due to the player, the quality of the music [ i think you get can mp3s if different sizes/compressions or something like that] or the headphones are junk.

Do any of you have any suggestions on what I can buy (as in an mp3 player, headphones) that is small and plays decent quality music. It doesn't have to be a symphony but pretty good. The only mp3 player I seen used is apple, but I am willing to try other brands. I only intend to use it at work so it is okay if it has to plug in a wall.

I don't know how many songs = 1 megabyte of memory. I don't use a lot of memory as my hard drive to my computer is 7 gigs and I have plenty of space.

I am willing to spend about $200 on the whole deal, as usual it is subject to increase for good quality.

If you couldn't tell, I am what they call a late adapter to technology. I got my 1st DVD player in december and I own 2 DVDs thus far.

lol .. okay .. anyway .. 1 song = about 3 to 4 mb depending on the quality of the mp3 .. so .. if you want to get a mp3 player get something that is about 2 or 4gb like a ipod nano .. but for sound quality .. it has more to do with the quality of the mp3 and the headphones. Apple's headphones **** .. i got some Shure In ear pieces and they sound a lot better than the apple headphones ..

those ipod shuffles ****, i had one for 2 days and it failed on me, plus it didn't have a digital display either, what a waste of $200. I'd prolly go with a Nano

i kept the headphones that came with the Ipod Shuffle cuz they were loud and bassy and **** good, guess i got somethin good out of htat package //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

So, when I download from itunes, I should ensure the song is ~3-4 megs. What if I want to use a CD I already own. What is an appropriate size?

Link to shure headphones?

That Ipod is pretty expensive. I do not have an interest in displaying photographs. I would guessed the price would have dropped by now, maybe I should wait a year or two.

Well you said $200 and the 2BG Nano is $150 before taxes. That should give you about 300-400 songs. You can import all your CD's to Itunes and put them on the ipod.

Also, file quality is a biggie, so make sure you get that right and it should sound sweet. But yeah ipod headphones ****.

holy shit man!!! u still usin beta or vhs?

I had VHS. I would still use it but I think soon they will quit making VHS. I like VHS better than DVD anyway.

You have to press PLAY twice with DVD whereas you have to only press it one time with VHS. Plus, it doesn't seem like DVD has any previews.

to convert songs from CD to mp3 format, use windows media player. it's called "ripping" ( theres a tab on windows media player for it) i encode all my songs to 256kbps. but some really really hard to find songs that i may happen to have to cd already, i save those as 320kbps
