question about JL 12'' W3v3

im looking for an amp for my 2 W3s and ive been hearing alot of good things about the 500/1. which would be 250 watts a piece if im understanding correctly. ive heard that JL is very precise about their stats on amps and subs. so looking at the RMS of the W3s. 250 watts per sub seems to be perfect but 250 watts just seems low to me. i spent 400$ on the subs and i want to get my moneys worth. so my question is should i go for the 500/1 or should i get an amp to mayb put 300 or more watts to the subs. thanks in advance

Just get the 500/1. It will push those W3's just right.

Don't the 12w3v3s handle 500 watts RMS?

If you are going with a large ported box, you may be able to get away with a single 500/1. If you are going with a sealed box, you may want to look into getting more power.

ETA: I am currently punishing a pair of 10w3v2s in a 2.5 cubic foot net enclosure tuned to 34 Hz with 900 watts RMS off of a 25 to Life Punch 150 and they seem to be taking every bit of it.

alright thanks. btw, how much better would 12w3s be compared to 13w1s? there is quite a price difference and i would like to know if the W3s really are worth it.

To the OP I don't mean to hijack this thread but I also have 2-4 ohm JL w3v3s I can't decide between these two amps. I am going to build a ported box to tuned to 30 hz.
