yes, the v.3 has a double 1.5" magnets

the v.2 has three 1" magnets.

nope. Technically it's both. They couldn't get double stacks in early production so they used triple stacks, but than they got the double stacks. So the IDMax v3's come in both double and triple and according to ID it makes no difference in performance.

wow...how do you guys know these things?...so how do i tell the difference between the v.2 and the v.3?.....they look the same....

the cones are different between the v.2 and v.3

the v.2's cone

and other than the magnets, the baskets are just slightly different (screws under the gaskets iirc) I once reconed a v.2 into a v.3 and they had to change the basket.

unfortunately, no. but i have heard v.3s w/ 2 and 3 slug motors and i cannot tell the difference in sound between the two.

are the subs really able to take 1000w rms?...i have a alpine pdx amp pushing out a little more than a 1000w rms and i don't wanna damage the sub...

1000w is the MOST you should give them. they do very well off of ~700wrms.
