Question about headunits, onstar and so forth

I have a new pioneer deh-p600ub... and just purchased a H3... The H3 has onstar and XM radio... If I put my Pioneer in will all that still work? I think my Onstar send info like the oil life to the stock radio and displays it, just wondering if the headunits can translate that?
