Question about HDDs

I am trying to connect a PS3 to a HDD. I understand a few things, I suppose, but first I have to purchase the HDD.

I am considering this one:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?nm_mc=AFC-SlickDeals&cm_mmc=AFC-SlickDeals-_-NA-_-NA-_-NA&Item=N82E16822204069

supposedly eSata offers a faster transfer from computer to HDD. The plan is to rip movies from laptop straight to HDD. So, this eSATA thing may do it a bit faster. I don't see an eSATA plug on my laptop. Is there an adapter one buys or if you don't have it, you can't use this feature.

Also, I have another question about ripping movies to play on PS3 and formatting. Someone found a website with software, but the site looked sketchy.

You can get a USB 2.0 to eSATA adapter, but it cuts the transfer rate of a eSATA connection in half. Does your laptop have a firewire connection?

think about the weakest link thing....the adapter to usb 2.0's top rate will be the limit...not the hd's

you will be just as good to buy a normal usb 2.0 or wait till 3.0 comes out:fyi:

Since I don't know what that is, I am thinking not.
Looks like this:
