Question about going active.

Hey everyone just curious when going with active crossovers I'm assuming you use 2 4 channel amps one for front and one for rear? Mids hooked up to 2 channels and the tweets hooked up to the other 2? Do they make 8 channel amps for this type of thing? If I ever pay off my credit card and after I get a HO alt I was thinking about going active with some really nice mids and tweets if possible I love sq.

I just do a single active front stage, But I have a reg. cab ranger, so rear fill is not really needed..

oh never even thought about that I doubt I'd do rear active also but still you would need at least a 2 ch for rear correct?

IMO rear fill is never needed, and most of the time just not worth messing with. I'd rather invest that extra money into making my front speakers sound better.

And to more directly answer your question, nearly all people who run an active setup are not running any rear speakers.

Yes u would need a 2 channel to operate the rear fill if u so choose to run one. I say save ur money and just run them off the deck power.

Guess you could always do active in front and use the head units rear output for the rears.

I have run deck power to the rear speakers in all but my loudest installs (which I am no longer interested in)

Deck power is fine for most setups. IMHO

I'll be going full active with rear stage in my next build. Done right it's great for rear passengers or at shows.
