question about gains/power....

OK, so i blew my HDC315 a while back thanks to clipping and i REALLY have to make sure i don't do that again! So i have a newbee-ish question(s) but first a quick rundown of my sub stage and electrical:

O.G. 300A alt (150+ at idle)

Big3 done with 2/0

single 4/0 run to the rear batteries

2) DC SoundLab 2K's in the trunk (Batcap 2000's)

Trunk wiring is all 1/0

Memphis 4K (running at 1ohm)

RE Audio XXX-15 (2007 model D2)

4.0ft^3 at 33hx is the plan (via RE's website... anything proven better?)

Now i am wondering if the XXX can handle the 4K at 1ohm daily? Or should I hold back on the power a little bit? I am going to be 100% honest i do not have a lot of experience with gain settings and such. However, i believe that the remote bass knob turns the gain up when it is turned up? Just wanting to know the best way to keep this subwoofer from blowing (obviously by not clipping the amp) yet i want to be able to crank full power out of the amp when getting metered (if i can't do it daily).

Thanks in advance for the help!

If you look throught the Amp section, at the top theres a sticky that should help out, the first post is missing with all the info, but the thread is so **** long it repeats itsself enough to understand.

If you're Going to mess with it yourself print this out.

O.K. so if i use the chart above to set the gains... How can i get more power come metering time?

Say i want to run 2K rms daily, so i get it to 44.72 volts and everything. Then do i have to reset the gains everytime i get metered or? How does the remote bass knob come into play here?

IF you use a bass knob and most people don't like them, Set the gains with the knob turned up and use the knob more as a decrease than an increase.

You'd get more power by running at a lower ohm. If you run the same ohm and turn the voltage higher than that on the list, you risk clipping.

You'd just take out your DMM and set your voltage to whatever is on that list. If you want to lower it, you can. Wirte it down, or best, print it out and keep it in your car.

Remote bass, as in bass knob or gain knob?

In this case it would be a remote gain knob: http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=2646

So, If i have the knob hooked up and max'd I should set the gain ON the amp until it reads 63.25V (4K watts) and then back the KNOB down until it reads 44.72V (2K watts) and mark that on the knob. Then daily run it at the 44.72V mark and when i want ot get metered or what not i can just max the knob out... Sound right or should i jump on that Fail Boat i keep hearing so much about?

how often r u going to get it metered? i mean if its not allot i dont know if id want to risk the temptation of turning up the gain during daily bumbing.then when u get metered just re set the gain. only takes a couple mins.

Probably won't get it metered a ton... I am hoping to do comps as much as possible though, I can avoid the temptation... not having to spend a sh!t ton more money is more important than trying to impress some douche bags on the street. I've learned my lesson after losing my HDC315 i had for about 3 hours....

So other than the "temptation factor" is my above statement correct?

As stated above, it is a Gain knob.... SO is this right??
