question about Fuse/power wire

No, but it is too large to be useful. Fuses blow to prevent overheating of the power wire from too much amperage. Using a 200 amp fuse on a wire that can't handle 150 amps means that when the wire gets a 175 amp surge, the wire will overheat possible catching fire because the fuse didn't blow.

wait, I know I'm thread jacking but...

my friend got a Kicker amp install kit and it comes with a 300 amp fuse....

we are using 1/0 awg but only for about 1000-1100 rms watts (hifonics 1606D @ 2 ohms)

fuse useless??

Umm, no. A fuse is never useless.

Get a smaller one. 150a will do the trick.

Please explain why a smaller fuse is a bad idea. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I think he has a FS thread selling 300A fuses //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

What? 150A fuse for a 1/0 wire?
Needs to be MINIMUM 300A fuse...
No. This is a common misconception. If you understood current flow, the amount of amps 1/0 wire carries, etc, you would realize that a 300A fuse is too big for 1/0 wire. Sure, I know you've read it here a million times, but like I said, it is a common misconception. Instead of believing everything you read on forums, have you ever considered reading a book on electrical? Like JimJ said, explain how a smaller fuse is a bad idea.

As I said in an earlier post, perhaps people should not be installing equipment if they do not know how it works.

For you to say it needs to be a minimum of 300A proves to me that you are very unfamiliar with the way a fuse is designed to work.

LOL - mine was a higher end model too - iirc deh-9300. Low mileage too, it was sitting around for year collecting dust.

One or two, they are still subwoofer outs and are mono summed signals from both left and right. Even the 2 RCA subwoofer pre-outs on the 2nd one...
