Alright so I got this sub in a trade a couple of months ago and was told it was fully loaded how do I check to see if it is fully loaded? Also what kind of power can one of this take?

for a long time Steve at Fi always got slammed for not offering a 4" coil and he refuted it by describing all the problems with putting a 4" coil on 8" spiders...and then what do you know, a 4" coil is available for the BL with 8" spiders lol. whatever, it's probably good business. just not completely sold on the idea

Steve? Dont have a Steve here, but I have been called worse //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

We made some tweaks to the 8X4 spider and were happy with the results for the BL application. Dont see us using it for anything other than that in the current Fi lineup. Using it on one other OEM prosound application and it does an amazing job.

10X4 is better for higher excursion/linearity situations. 8x3 is a stable well rounded platform.

Hard to tell if it is a 4". Definitely flatwind. But it is hard to see if it has the machined cooling channels in the top plate. You might be able to catch one of the little crescent shaped notches in the right light through a basket vent hole. But 90% are sold with cooling... so chances are this one has it.

Thanks,

Scott

lol sorry, I meant to say scott not steve. I don't think it's a "bad" design, i just think it fools a lot of people buying the product. Many people think that if they get the 4" coil their driver will handle lots more power and suffer no performance in doing so. My friend thought exactly this as a matter of fact

I could be wrong but to me it seems like it's a borderline "gimmick" to get people to buy it not knowing how it really affects the driver. I know that it was not intended to be a gimmick AT ALL, but to some less informed people it turns into one

that being said, I love fi subs and you guys offer possibly the best all around sub lines of any company today and at GREAT prices. just stirring up the pot is all //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
