question about enclosures

so i have two sets of subs for my car. first is a pair of american bass dual 6-ohm subs in a sealed box (slightly larger). second is a pair of jl audio w3v2d4 sub in a sealed box (slightly smaller box). my friend would maybe like to swap me for my slightly larger box for a big box that has a port in between the subs. i was thinking of moving the jl's into the ported box and the american bass into the slightly smaller sealed box. do i sound like i know what i'm doing? cause i sure don't feel like it, but let me know what y'all think.
