Question about Eclipse

ya im assuming its my 6600 your talking about =). I play regular mix burned cds and data(mp3) cds made off my computer all the time. Havent tried an data disc for DVDs so cant honestly answer ya there. Eclipse has been one of the best HU manufacturers. THink im going to put it on ebay so better hurry!

Not meaning to take over your thread but is it still worth buying an eclipse avn726e? eclipse isnt making HU anymore and if it breaks it something I dont want to buy it for nothing. Plus you can snag one on ebay for 550 which is a steal for that good of quality.

They make them still. They just dont supply North America. The demand just wasnt there. Besides there are certified Eclipse repair centers. MITO and United Radio.

so for 550 you cant go wrong? one more thing... on their North American website the newsletter says that they cant do that autostart (dont know idf thats what its called) map guidance anymore. does the mean there will be no GPS on the unit?

I think that has to be inaccurate, or theres something else going on. I was at my local shop a week or so ago and the subject came up recently about eclipse and he said they did almost $225k in sales the last full year with eclipse. Im sure they werent the only store in the US selling lots of eclipse. But who knows, there some of the best HU's made.

Totally accurate. Nobody is interested in headunits with 8v preouts, optical outputs (some models), time alignment, slopes, EQ, etc. They are into the stupid dolphin animations and changing colors now.

I'd put my dolphin animated HU (Clarion DRX9375) up against a lot of the HU's made after its time.

As for the 6600, I have/use the 6620 (newer version of the 6600) and haven't had any issues with it playing a mixed cd that a friend of mine makes. He's a rapper w/a small label, but he does his own to help with the costs and I have 0 issues playing his stuff. You'll be fine w/that HU.

It's up to you and the options either one has that you like.

I too would be torn between the 2.

I like the looks of a full double DIN over a flipout,

BUT... the 726 is newer and has better graphics/options.
