Ok, I don't have alot of refs here, a couple, but nothing major. I have been involved in several other car audio forums for years though, and have stacked up a decent number of people who I believe would vouch for me.
So anyways... I buy a sub here from a fairly new member a month or so ago. It is to match the other 2 I have currently. It was advertised as used for only a couple of weeks and in very good condition.
When it arrives, it's packed well, but ****ING FEDEX leaves it out in the rain. Luckily it was inside plastic, so I just pulled it out, checked to make sure it wasn't wet, and said **** it. No damage I could see, so no use bothering to call and yell at people who couldn't care less.
Well, here it is about 6 weeks later I guess, and I finally pull it out and inspect it close up, since I am thinking of trading it. When I do, I notice there are 4 or 5 dents in the black metal cone. Not huge ones, but in something this beautiful, it truly does mar the appearance. This was NOT disclosed to me when I agreed to buy the sub, and I would NOT have bought it had I known. The basket or motor appearance isn't a big deal to me, but I specifically wanted a nice black metal cone to match my others.
It doesn't appear that this person is still participating on the boards, but he may come back later to sell more stuff. He hasn't responded to my PM where I expressed my disappointment in the shape of the sub. I didn't ask for any money or anything, just wanted to see if he would own up to it or try to blame it on happening in shipping, which was patently impossible by the nature of the damage. I know without a doubt that he packed this sub away knowing full well the cone had dents in it.
Either way, it's not gonna make a huge diff to me, but it does change my install and/or trading plans significantly, and I'm obviously disappointed.
So what would you do? Give him real, actual negative feedback in the feedback forum? Just make a post and essentially explain the situation and that I felt a little more disclosure would have been nice? Or do you think I am to blame for not specifically asking the nature of the cone? Personally, if I were selling this sub, I'd feel obligated to let the buyer know the true condition, but some people would say "You didn't ask, so **** you."
Whaddya think?
