question about amp wiring

is it better to the ground the amp directly to the battery or in the trunk. my subs are making weird noises and have less power than they should. i think it is because of the ground but i'm not sure. i have 2 rockford he2's with a coustic 800 watt mono amp and they don't sound as loud as they should. could anyone help me figure this out?

Keep your ground wire as short as possible ... same gauge as the power wire, sand the area so there's no paint on it (just bare metal), and use the appropriate screw or lug to connect to your grounding area.

Sealed or ported box? Have you set your gains properly? As well as everything else on the amp? Wiring connections good and secure? Sufficient electrical system? Are your subs wired correctly? Are you using a sufficient size power wire?

everything was working fine when i decided to rearrange my trunk. now my subs aren't like they used and when i turn the gain half way up they start beating rapidly and it's not with the flow of the music it's like they have a mind of their own . its never done this before so i don't know what to do. any ideas please tell me
