if u use a crossover to split the frequencies preamp, then send the mids to one amp (and then the woofer) and the highs to another amp (and then the tweeters), what cuts off the frequencies for the woofer? what i mean is that if u set the crossover for the mids to 80hz, how does the woofer know to stop where the tweeter picks up? i am guessing with an active set up i wouldnt still go thru the morel passive crossover and would wire the speakers directly to the amp...i assume...

what you would do is power your sub off one amp, then mids and highs off a 4-channel or 2 2-channels. you'd need a 3-way xover. it x-overs the subs, as a low pass, bandpasses the mids between a pair of frequencies, and then a high pass for the tweets
