Question about a Cap

I am gonna install 2 10" Alpine Type E subs to an Alpine M450 Mono Amp in a reg cab dodge ram 1500. It will be 400W total with each sub getting 200W. The power wire is 4 gauge & Im prolly gonna get an EverLast Maxx 1000 cranking amps battery. I have a 5000k Micro Farad Cap. Should I even have the cap installed or would I be better off with out it? I've heard a cap can even hurt a cars electrical system. Would the cap even make any difference?

Should I add a cap IF I decide to add a 2nd small amp: http://walmart.scosche-cars.com/products/?sfID1=26&productID=1642&walmartProductID=4694342

..to power my 2 Kenwood 6x9 and Pioneer 5 1/4 speakers?

sell the cap and get a yellow top and do the big three.... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

big three is wonderful for getting that extra .2 volts when it really counts

I already hav the cap, it came with a wiring kit.

I'm prolly gonna get the EverLast Maxx 1000 cranking amps battery. I've heard they are just as good as a yellow/red top and that the yellow & red tops are overated. The everlast is alot cheaper as well. Isnt the big 3 a battery, wire & alternator?

I have 4 guage power wire & all the other wire needed & gonna get a new battery. I'm not getting a new alternator, too much cash. I've already spent enuff on my 6x9s, 5 1/4s, 2 subs, box, amp, headunit, wiring, cap, sirius & possible another amp & new battery.

well unless you have a lot of excess amperage, caps are useless...actually they hurt your system ! they are just one more burden on the alt.....don't do it...

I am not going to get into the hugely misunderstanding that capacitors cause, but for the low wattage you are planning in really won't help or hurt. You may not even need the battery. An easy way to test is to see what the actual output of your alternator is (a shop can test it, usually for free) and then you can see what the total draw on the electrical system is with the stereo cranked, headlights on, wipers on, ac running, etc. If the draw is less that the alternators output, you are good to go, and a bigger battery will only delay the inevitable- you are draining more than you are producing. Eventually the battery will be empty. No capacitor or big 3 will help with that.

they are just sayin that the set-up your going with doesnt draw enough power to where your gonna need hardcore upgrading of you electrical system throw the cap away and as for a Batt you could get it if you want. Its nice to leave room for upgrading.
