Quantum Audio 4000 Good or Bad

A buddy of mine just got a Quantum Audio 4000, its made by DB Drive, the box claims it does 4000 watts at 1-ohm, which a know is false... it only has 120 amp curent draw, so i figuered maybe about 1500 watts or so... but what do you all thing... good or bad for 250 bucks???

friend has the same exact amp, running two L7 12's. i havent heard anything bad about it from him, but from what ive seen it pushes them pretty decent. but might have some overheating problems depending on what its pushing

ya it will work. but for 250 you could probably find something more reliable and that will do the same power or more

with 120 amp draw you can look for about 1000 rms. ab 80.1 has 120 amp draw very respectable 1000 watt amp.

I just went to a show with Quantum, and no, they are not all that great, there not reliable at all, and do around 1500-1800wrms, there is almost no difference between the 4000 and the 3000 only the name changes!

with 120 amp draw i seriously doubt the amp will do 1500-1800 watts.

I don't know anything about QA, but if this 120A current draw is just based on the size of the fuses it really doesn't tell you much about it's power capability. I could do ~1000, it could do ~1500.

my fusion 1000d does 1400 watts at 1-ohm with only 90 current draw...

how do you figure that they are not reliable... my buddy has been running it at 1-ohm for 2 months... it never heats up to hot, and has never gone into protect.. overal it has been a pretty solid amp... it's good for entry level car audio

don't mean to hi-jack the thread, but do you guys think that this amp would be able to power a soundstream SPLX 15" 2 ohm, with battery voltage @ 12V?

for arguements sake....if it burnt up tomorrow...just out of the blue...would you still consider it a good amp for the buy?
