Sorry for the long post.
My first, and most important question: What is the overall quality of Phoenix Gold equipment?
I ask because a vendor on the Camaro forums showed me the Phoenix Gold iAMP-GM1, which he sells for $1000. This kit is very simple to install, and doesn't require me to cut into the stock wiring, or run new speaker wires into my doors.
He mentioned this kit to me after I already bought a couple of things. My planned system was to have a JL HD900/5, 10w6v2, Hertz HSK-165s in the front, and Hertz HCX-130s in the rear.
I've already purchased an Audio Integrations Perfect Fit Enclosure for my car. And a PAC AA-GM44. I'm not too deep into my shopping list yet, and the Phoenix Gold kit seems like a very neat solution.
My concerns are that I don't know anything about PG. I'm not sure about using the stock wiring, though it is much simpler and cleaner; and I'm not sure the amp will be able to drive the HERTZ speakers that I want. Budget wise, it's almost $600 less expensive than the enclosure, sub, amp, and wiring that I was going to buy. Though, I have spent $350 on the enclousre and line level converter that I would not need, but could probably sell for ~$250.
