Quality components for stock speaker locations?

I want some high end ($500 or less) components that sound good in stock locations. I have space for a 6.5 in the lower door and the tweeter is in the a pillar. I know some of the higher end components are very sensitve to placement, and I don't want to deal with custom kicks. Anybody got some recommendations?
