hello my fellow stereo gurus does anyone have the newest orion xtr 3700.1d amp they started making? well I do and my q is why does this thing get so hot? and soooo fast im talking after 30 sec of beating on it and u absolutely cannot touch the casing in any way its not normal its the hottest amp iv ever had " period". and iv been doing tunes for over 28 years. my subwoofer section consists of 4- skar audio tens, 1-orion 3700.1d amp, 3-kenitek 2400 series batteries, 1- mechman 320 amp alt that stays at 14.0 volts. and all the upgrades that need to go with the system for proper installation. any info would be great, thanks in advance everyone.

What are you wired to and how did you set your gains?

what impedance and where is your gain set at? where is your ground located? have you checked your subs for a bad coil?

yes, I am sitting at 1.3 ohms rested and the subs run just a lil higher than 2 ohm a coil plus im grounded at the seat belt bolts with 0 awg to get a lil extra ground out of this car since they use the body as a ground. I have not clamp metered the sub amp power yet, I just got it together last nite lol. the amp is brand new from a dealer so that's a plus.

ohhh sorry, my gain is just a little bit under 1/4, no bass boost and the subsonic is on, along with the frequency around 80hz

well it looks like iv got more problems now it hasn't even been tweaked yet n now the 3700.1d goes into protect as soon as u turn it on, even with no rca's, bass knob controls, or speaker wires now. checked all my ohms, voltages, wires, etc. looks like im now looking for a amp repair place. any one had one repaired???.

yahh I even put my old orion 1500d mono in to check if it was anything from before the amp, nope it all worked just fine, minus some major power, must b the amp. does anybody know good people who fix amps.

If you bought it from a brick and mortar retailer maybe they will test it on their bench.

If an amp is getting hot that fast something is terribly wrong. You're lucky you didn't burn your car to the ground!

Hopefully you bought from someplace legit that will honor a warranty. Buying cheap Chinese junk from the lowest cost source is a recipe for disaster and disappointment.
