Q about Sundown and IA

So I've been planning out this build for a while.... I need dual 2 ohm subwoofers with some decent power handling.

I have been really looking at the sundown nightshade and the IA death penalty lines....

Now... both of them are rated @ 1500 rms.... Im pretty sure I know the answer... but will they handle 2000rms daily?

I was going to go with a different brand of 15's, but with their

(nightshade... death penalty) thirst for more space than I planned, I may have to go with twelves.

Also.. any info on the size box/port these puppies like?

Thanks in advance.

never used the nightshades but, everything i have heard about them has been very good. jacob seems to be a great guy. he is very helpful to anyone willing to listen. and his customer service is very good. on the otherhand i know quite a bit about the death penalty. i run them in competition. they will take 2000 rms (unclipped) at sbn i burped 8k on a pr 12s for 155.9(ac190). nicks customer service is also great.

Well, judging by character on here, I dont doubt both of these gentlemen have good customer service.

This is going into a daily setup so...

I mean.... Likely, I will probably see 1500 actual watts per once it gets warmed up due to imp rise and other factors... but im well known for playing for a few hours a day.... so I want to be absolute sure they could handle up to 2k each.

Both should be able to take 2000 RMS daily if you are careful with the gains and volume and don't go above 2000RMS. However, keep in mind that the 500 extra watts over RMS will only get you around a 1 dB gain which to humans is imperceptible. With that said I wouldn't hesitate to recommend either the Nightshade or the DP, either way you will be happy and have great customer service.

its a toss up...but if u want the added power handling...get the niteshades cuz jacob can build then to take 3k all day long

and to be honest u can get away with the niteshades in only need 2.8 cubes with 50square inches of port tuned to 32hz ...i heard this setup a couple days ago and trust me it gets loud and still hit the lows

x2

My pair are in 5.8ft net currently tuned to 33hz and they pound the lows excellently. Also I have no doubt that they'll handle 2kwatts daily as long as you bump responsibly.

Well thats good because I can fit just about 2.8 for each sub and still have enough room for batteries and my amps. Keep in mind this setup would be in a trunk so..... I have to worry about size... fitting things in.. box placement.. and still coming out with a clean looking install

Was it 2.8 before or after displacement? How do they handle being inverted? Maybe I could squeeze some more space by inverting them.

Like I said... even with a beefed up electrical... in the end of the day Im running ~5k watts so there will likely be voltage drop.... the amps are rated @ 14.4v so, plus with other factors (voltage drop, resistance in power wire/sub wires, impedence rise) its likely they wont see 2k actual watts, but in theory they could see up to like 1900 so.

I consider 52 out of 62 absolute full tilt on the headunit and I must set gains by voltage matching considering each sub has its own amp... so that stuff is gonna be alright.

Just dont want to make a big investment and let the smoke out of some beautiful woofers.

Maybe I'll shoot jacob a pm.

Any other experiences/knowledge guys?
