is it going to be simple

i have a 73 vw superbeetle so there is no ciggerette lighter

could i run a power wire from my batt to a power/ on/off switch

then split the on the xmas light wire to the positive and negitive on the power switch?

would this work or is it a little more complicated?

i would work but it would put a lot of strain on your battery
lol like the system doesnt XD

u CANNOT DO WHAT YOU OUTLINED!!! besides xmas lights in a car is a fire hazard
fire harzard lol that car is a death trap just add another one to the list

what is wrong with what i have outline

im a noob at this but it makes sence

ur xmas lights are 110v and your car is 12v. you need a converter. I have 2 fs man. its simple,

buy a converter

either plug into the cig lighter

or

run to power and ground

plug your xmas lights in

WAAAALAAAAA you have power with no electrical issues.

Easiest and simplest way to run christmas lights would be

1. Splice open the wire so you have the positive and the negative.

2. Attach ring terminals to christmas light wires, then attach to positive and negative posts of the battery.

3. Take the largest gauge wire you have and attach it from the positive terminal to the negative terminal of the battery.

The last step is to make sure you get rid of any resistance in your battery so it runs properly.

I have

2-400 watt/800peak

1 800watt/1600peak power inverters i wouldn't mind getting rid of cheap...was a long haul truck driver and used these to power my fridge, TV, and computer...

these connect directly to the battery so no need for a cig lighter...

P.S. the power inverter you linked to wouldn't work because it needs a cig lighter outlet...

Not even funny.
