Putting a switch?

Depending on the amp you could possibly have a tough time finding a switch that will handle the amperage drawn through the main power cable.

You'd be better off putting it inline with the remote activation lead and no, doing so will not hurt the amplifier at all. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

You could get one like this from Radio Shack (or WalMart or Pep Boys or Auto Zone or Advance Auto etc etc etc)

You'll put the side of the remote wire that comes from the power source (battery, fusebx, wherever happens to be) on one terminal of the switch.

The other side of the wire will go to the remote activation input on your amp. If the amp turns on with the switch in the "Off" position then swap the wires to the opposite terminals on the backside of the switch.

Edit: snova beat me to it! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

yup, make sure it'll handle 12 volts, 12 volt plugs on 110v AC make it go pop

lol

slightly irrelevant but funny none the less, remotes for amps in handy spots are handy for close encounters with the cops //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Mine is mounted on the console right next to my pwr windows and pwr seat knobs. Almost identical to prowler's linke. I had to have one because I listen to AM radio quite a bit - Sports Talk, O'reilly Factor etc, and my sub amp interferes severely with my AM reception. Flip the switch and it comes in crystal clear.
