Putting a 2200μF capacitor back on?

My amp has been acting up for the last few days, so I decided to unhook it & take it apart. Right when I went to look inside of it, a 2200μF capacitor fell right out. I'm almost positive that that was the problem. If I were to put this back on, would it work just as fine as it used to before acting up?

Did the leads just snap off or do they look burnt? When you say your amp was acting up what exactly do you mean ? Replacing that cap may solve your issue but it may also be the symptom of a different problem. Either way it needs to go back in the amp so it is worth a shot. Just make sure you put the cap back in correctly being sure to observe proper polarity. With any luck there is a designation on the circuit board that tells you what is what.

this. check polarity or shit go boom. but if the cap looks to be in good shape use it, otherwisefind a replacement

Did you have the amp mounted to your sub box ? A lot of times when you mount the amps to your sub box and are playing it hard the amp will get so hot the solder weakens and causes parts to work loose....What brand amp was it ? I know Memphis amps are bad for doing that...

LOL. Mounting the amp to the sub box doesn't make the amp get hot and solder weaken.... Memphis amps are NOT bad about that.

What actually happens is the vibration from mounting it to a sub box will physically BREAK the parts legs off right at the board. This is a problem that Memphis 4K's are bad about, but not many of their other amps are.

Solder has to be ridiculously hot before it melts, the paint would burn right off the amp before the solder would melt, with the exception of a few large resistors, and the output filtering inductors, there aren't many "hot spots" on the boards of modern amps like you used to have back in the day when everything was class AB. Most Class D's run cold unless they are being run improperly.
