what do you think the new BAMF,Stax series amps are clamping....

I like the way the STAX amps can be stacked on top of each other as i'm trying to conserve space as is anyway..

STAX5500/1D - claims to put out 3200 at 1 ohm.....think its over rated if so by how much...

The boards appear to have been redesigned, and they look pretty nice, but still -- they do appear to be over-rated. I can't find fuse size for the stax5500, but the bamf5500 has 5x40's. I'd expect around 2k out of them.

did you do a search cause there has been like 3 threads about the bamf, the board looks like the board they used in like 8 different amps, like the a3000db

I guess the 5500's might be the same as the a3000dB, but the smaller ones are new designs.

ok, the stax amp. did anyone look at the fusing of it? 30x3 for fuses. 90 amps?! I know claimed is 200x4 but it has to be close to 125wrmsx4?

Is this for real in a PA 4 channel? I'm used to the old PA amps saying 300x4 and having a 25 amp fuse..

but if this is real then this unit has to be putting out some real power.

The PA 5500 has been benched and it produces ~2000w @ 1 ohm, at 13.8v. The output falls off steeply as voltage decreases.

i had a PA 1600 4 channel (fanatic series) and it was a pretty decent budget amp... i also had a PA 2600 2 channel (gothic series) and i must say this was a pos.... used it for mids for awhile and i also tried it on some subs.... my old mmats d700.2 was much louder on the subs.

Honestly, I do not have a test report at 13.8 volts. You are right, our amps are generously rated. If you are looking for an amplifier with the kind of power that you see advertised, this is not the product for you…

You were not using a resistive load to determine it's actual output.

As for the email from PA, yeah. Lol'd.
