the different colors's are different types of medicines with different affects

green drank= promethazine WITHOUT codeine

yellow drank = promethazine with codeine but taste like straight medicine or

yellow drank= tussionex suspension which taste better than the other form of yellow

you a little off with a few of them big homie

red is prometh/codeine VC

yellow or yellow orange is prometh VC (no codeine)

and there are 2 purples, 2 reds, 2 yellow oranges, and 1 green mayne...

The difference is that of taste because of different manufacturers.

all of this is with ACTAVIS(the original purp taste) off the market for now...

Yea, there is either the Tussonex, or the Promethazine. I dunno about recommending 2-3ozs for the first time. Just pour an OZ outta the bottle with your fav drink. It doesn't matter WHAT the drink is.
