Maybe to some people how it performs is just as important.

You could have the ugliest looking HU on the block but has the features a person needs.

There was another HU I had but was really old school. Pioneer but don't recall the model # offhand. Had a built-in spectrum analyzer in it and was a single din unit.

I remember there was one alpine headunit that actually required an amp to even run the headunit itself or else it won't turn on.. Does anyone remember that?

I think Alpine had a few and I know I had one as well just don't know the model # atm...

going back to when a lot of you guys won't remember. Panasonic has some of the prettiest stuff and most had 5V pre-amp outs with cool UI.

I had both those units. Panasonic Made some of my favorite decks back in the day. Looked great, CheaP and had a ton of features.

I admit I am a sucker for the cool blue Alpine units, that's what I always use to run. I had a Pioneer in my 02 Cougar XR that was a single din with a color display that was pretty freaking cool, IIRC I used a graphic of a shark swimming through the ocean as my default, not sure of the model anymore though.

Not everyone looks at the crossover slopes and digital processing of your HU when they ride with you. They just see the faceplate.

Like a wife, you're stuck with your HU for a while, unless you decide to divorce/sell or just get another one
