Protector Light Illuminated: System DOWN!! NEED HELP!

My protector light is illuminated on my amplifier and nothing is happening. I checked all the connecting points and made sure no wires are touching. no fuses are blown. I thought it was the ground wire wasnt touchin enough metal, but i relocated it and drilled another hole and it still doesnt work. No noise, no green light, nothin. Does anybody have any suggestions before i tear the whole system apart and start from scratch?!!?!?!?!?!

The amplifier that i have is a California Profile 1200. The system was working and all of a sudden it stopped while i was driving down the road. I tried stripping the paint away, but there might still be some in the way. I will check, but is there anything else it could possibly be?!!? Thanks for your comments

How do you have it wired? Do you have a main line running from the battery to the amp? If so is the ground and power wire the same size? You checked the fuse in the amp, is the amp the only thing not working? Do you have another amp you can hook up to see if the Profile Amp is your problem?

The power wire and ground are the same size, but it was working before so i do not think that is the problem. I checked all fuses in the amplifier and the one going to my battery, they are all good. The amplifier's protector light is on and the subs are not getting anything so i do not know wat the problem is!? I do not have another amp that I can see if that is the problem, but I did send the amplifier into the company, thinking it was blown, and the company sent me a new replacement and same problem.

Do u think my wiring is stripped somewhere and i need to take apart everything?!!?

Thanks again for your help!

Disconnect the wires to the subs. If the protection light goes out, there's a short somewhere in the sub or wiring to it. If the light stays on, get a new amp.

I disconnected the speaker wires to the amp and still the red protector light illuminated. I then proceeded to disconnect the ground and battery wires, and still the light was on. The only wire left was the remote wire and once i disconnected that the light went off. I switched it around a little bit, leaving the battery and ground wires in and tried to disconnect the remote and once I did that the light went off. The light only goes off only when the remote is disconnected. What does all of this mean!?!?! Its a brand new amplifier and the same kind was working before. Do you think I need a new remote wire because it is scatched somewhere!?

Again, your comments are soooo much appreciated!

What kind of subs do you have, i think theres a good chance you ahd them wired incorrectly getting an Ohm load your amp could not handle which translates to a fried amp. Let us know, if its that you could try sending it back into the company for a replacement though it'd be tough, then wire them correctly.

I have 2 12" Infinity Perfects Dual 4ohm subs. We wired them 2 x 2ohms connected to a Profile CA1200 amplifier. I drive a 2003 Honda Civic EX coupe. My friend said it could be the alternator gone bad or not enough power coming from the battery. These are just options. I am goin to buy a wire tester tonite and see if all the wires are working and giving enough power. Please feel free to leave any comments!

Thanks again for your concerns!

hey its J, I wired the subs....should be flawless //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif ...but ya never know. Do any of your friends down there have systems? You really should put a different amp in just to see if it works.....

I disconnected the speaker wires to the amp and still the red protector light illuminated. I then proceeded to disconnect the ground and battery wires, and still the light was on. The only wire left was the remote wire and once i disconnected that the light went off.
That's not possible. Without power and ground the light shouldn't come on. Maybe the ground was being made through the RCA cables, but I would expect power to be required for the light. If the remote wire can power the protection light circuit, maybe it means you're not getting power?
I would contact the amp manufacturer and ask them what conditions can cause that light to come on.

thanks for all your help! I will contact the amp manufacturer asap but in the mean time...do u know wat could possibly cause this to happen that i can work on fixing and just looking into!?

thanks again...very much appreciated!
