Protection....this has never happened...

I had this soundstream amp in my car for a while and never once had it go into protect. I just installed it into my friends car though, and it went into protect. It works for a while, but then randomly goes into protect everyonce in a while. If you turn the car off and wait a minute or two then turn the car back on, the amp will turn back on and work like normal. What exactly does protection mode mean...is the amp heating up or something? I've never dealt with an amp going into protection and have little knowledge on it? How can i diagnos to see what the problem is?

Its a Soundstream Vanquish V600.2 amplifier.

Any help would be great. Thanks.

well the two subs running off the amp are both 4 ohm rated at around 200-400rms and have single voice coils. So how should this be wired.

-amp runs rms watts @ 4ohm, 250watts x 2

-two channel

Would i just wire the subs as simplistic as it can go....neg and pos from first sub to neg and pos of one channel, and the same thing for the other?
