Protection Mode Help Please!

ok heres my set up Kicker ZX750.1 amp and 1 12" Kicker L7 my probleam is my subwoofer only works at low volume when i turn it up my amp goes into protection mode. I used to have 2 10" mtx subs in a dual box and a 600 watt mtx amp and this same stuff happened to me and i took it to my local radio shop were i had it installed and the guy told me its my mtx amp and i hook it up in a buddys truck and it works perfect. My kicker sub used to work great it bumped so good and i was just driving down the road and my subwoofer and i think my amp cut off and i had to cut my stero on and off and my sub finally worked but it isnt bumping like it used to i have to keep it turned pretty much all the way down so it wont go into protect mode. So far ive changed my ground, tryed differant rca jacks, bought a brand new radio and got it installed i have no idea whats doing this please help

i forgot to mention i do have a cap for it a tsnuami 1.5 farard and it still does it when its hooked up and my ground is on the ground for the battery i have a cobalt and the battery is in the trunk

read the manual that came with the amp, it tells ya why the protection light woudl come on.

ok heres wat it says amplifier will only play at low volume levels and it says the cause can be 1. short circuit protection is engaged witch i have no idea what that is 2.check the speaker wires to see if there grounded to the chassis (ive done this one) 3. check for damage speakers or speaker operating below the minimum recommended impedance. (my sub is liek 2 weeks old i know it isnt it doing it) and my kicker sub is 2 ohm and my amps 2ohm load is 750 watts rms at 2ohms please help me

same thing happened to me then the white smoke came out but the gians were set correctly

did you check your gains?

They maybe set to high or the bass boost may also be set high

yea my gain was set high at the time when i turn my gain up it makes my sub cut out at lower volumes

i forgot to mention if this helps b4 my amp started this shit my low bass wouldnt hit for shit only highs now its like backwards high dont hit good but low does does any one think i should take my amp kit out and put a new oen in it i didnt chaneg the amp kit from my mtx doing that protection shit

short circuit as in havin ur ground TIGHT and not loose so it's a good connection. screw the bass boost, set ur gain right and ur amp will run better and shouldn't go off anymore.

with my amp if i dont set the bass eq to lo like 6-8 db's i have to turn the gain almost all the way to .2 volts to get it too get loud.

so i dont know about that
