Protection Light....NEED Help Please....

OK...so I am on my way home from up north and I was bumpin' my stereo a little bit on the Freeway...well I turned the gain on my remote gain control completely off so I could just listen to the music without my subs on...and the light on the gain remote (the power light) went out...so I pulled over and got out and went to my trunk and looked and the red protection light on my amplifier is lit up..and it stayed that way the whole way home...the amp was a little hot....but if it wasn't a big problem shouldn't it have come back on? I have absolutely no experience with this at all...my subs are wired to 2 ohms...but I did turn my gain up on my amp a little bit...could that cause it? I am lost and a little pissed...any ideas?

are you sure its at 2 ohms? are both your subs d2 and wired in series?

yes...wired at 2 ohms and in series...and Dual 2 ohm VC....

well actually that is how I told the guy to hook it up when he asked me...maybe he thought they were dual 4's and tried to run them at 1 ohm and I got them at .5.....

I think it just got hot back there and went into thermal protection because I just went out to my Jeep and turned my car on and the power to the amp is back on...but still....I hope I don't have this problem constantly......

get some 80mm computer fans and make cooling system for it.

get a dmm and test the impedence
