Protect light on, but still plays

Well yesterday i added a 2nd battery (Red-Top) because of horrible dimming and voltage drops. Well, it cured my problem, voltage stays steady and there is NO dimming whatsoever...

However, as soon as i hooked it up i noticed the protect light on my bass knob would come on ever so dim...it would't light up bright red just would come on really dim. The light on the my amp does the same thing, but the green light is still on the amp and it still plays fine. Does anyone else know what could have caused this? Also, it may just be me, but it doesn't seem as loud now that i added the 2nd battery, but there is no dimming at all.

And i might add, when the bass hits harder the light gets brighter. And it only will do it with the car running, with the car off...it doesn't come on.

even though your lights dont dim, i think that you are getting a voltage drop on your second battery (the one that is not hooked to your lights). that is the reason it doesnt seem louder is because your alternator is having a hard time keeping both battery's charged. your battery that has all your lights hooked to it is staying charged because that doesnt draw a ton of current as your amp does, but on your second battery you amp is drawing so much current that i think it is just to the point where it wants to go into protect modse because of the voltage drop across your second battery. i say upgrade your alternator and problem solved.

Ahh...makes much since...thanks

Figured out the problem, i had a loose wire on the ground of the battery, fixed it and no more protect. Turns out my friend had the exact same problem when he added his kinetik battery.
