Actually, that's the cheap *** blonde wood from Lowes. It's some ghetto shit with tons of voids.
The oak at my Lowes actually has a terrible veneer layer on it. It's very ugly and full of notches. The birch looks pretty decent on one side and terrible on the other. The blonde wood looks pretty nice on both sides but has quite a few little notches in it. They're smaller than what the oak has and I actually think they make the top look nice since you can't feel them.
