Proposed Trade

So here is the deal; Trade 2-15 L7 Dual 2 OHM 2007 subs in a prefab ported box and 400dollars, for 2-18 RE MT's.

I have two kicker sx1250.1 amps to push the subs.

Basically I was wanting to try something different. This setup would go in an 01 Cadillac Deville. I have 0/1 Kicker Hyperflex wire and an 1800amp Scosche battery(plus stock battery and alt).

Would the trade be worth it? Is it a "great" deal? Is the money too much? Should I offer less? Curious to hear your thoughts

Thanks,

Kinda what I thought.. what about like only getting one of the MT's for both Kickers? Good deal? Bad deal on my part? I noticed the MTs were like 8 hundred new from woofersetc. The EL 7 is only three hundred brand new. Also, if I did do one MT are my amps strappable? If so, how do I go about doing that?

Are they brand new MT's? If not then the old MT 18's seem to go for around 300-350+ shipping. The absolute most I would trade in your situation is the sub's, box, and $100-$150. I'm hoping you plan to wall the MT's since I don't think you will be able to fit 2 18's ported in the proper enclosure in the trunk along with the batteries and amp's needed to properly power them.

I think if you ran a single MT 18 with both amp's that would probably be a better setup if you don't want to do a wall. But it's really up to you. You would be better off with SX's with the power you have to run.

Thanks for the reply..

I didnt think the deal was that great either.. and no the subs are not brand new.. cant do a wall in my daily driver. I guess getting both subs is not in the cards..unless I pick up one to sell on here. I also have a basically brand new epicenter 160 to use.. or sale.. hmm decisions decisions..

What are all your opinions on just one of the 18's. I have always wanted to do an 18. If not the MT what other 18 would you guys recommend. I have about 3000 watts RMS on hand.

Thanks in advance for all your help guys. I really like this site despite the reputation. I have been coming here since 01 and it still entertains me.

Thanks Man.. thats kinda the opinion I was looking for. I had the same gut feeling. The kid(he is 16) has never powered them up. But he purchased them from a gentleman that is supposed to have won the indy truck bash with them. I am unfamiliar with the MT model and did not know they were more of an SPL sub. I do not compete. The system I have now is kind of too much for me. I never listen to the thing full tilt, rarely over -3 out of 7(on my clarion). I am curious how loud the thing is. I would love to get it metered. I like having the power on tap too.. if not the MT's, what 18"s would you recommend?

The L7s should get as loud, if not louder than the 18" MT on the same power, and sound a LITTLE better. Just get a 7cuft@34hz box built for them, or have a 4th order bandpass vented through the trunk. It should get nasty in there. Cone area will win the battle in your situation, since you're using the same power for both, and the L7 15 has almost just as much cone area as a single 18.

Keep your subs and get a better box built if you wanna get louder. If you just HAVE to have an 18, then go for just one. I just had to have an 18 in my Fleetwoods trunk, and it was loud, but in the limited space of a trunk, a single 15 or 12 can get get louder

I do need to build another box, but I am a complete newb when it comes to wood working and box design. I can do electrical all day, but the physics of sound is not my speciallity. Any tips or anyone in indiana willing to build me something for the right price, I WOULD BE MORE THAN READY.. Hell, I would even drive a good distance to pick something up..I am all ears.

Thanks,
