i love that site. loads of good info on our trucks!

also dan7532 post has very good points.

I've been looking for a gas engine now.. I guess I could manage to pay for gas..

I posted an ad on a classified..

got some replies..

"I got a good running 350 and 4spd auto ****** in a suburban, both were rebuilt about 80kms ago, you can buy just the engine or the whole truck, whichever works best for you. I'm working at Suncor and come down every 10 days so I could even give you a ride to get the truck. $700 for the engine/***** $900 for whole truck"

"I HAVE AN EXCELLENT 350 AND OVERDRIVE AUTOMATIC(RECENT REBUILD ON THE TRANSMISSION) 171000KM IN A 1982 SUBURBAN(CARBURATED) YOU CAN DRIVE IT HOME FOR $1000.00 THANKS JIM "

"I have 76 chev rebuilt eng.&auto ***** (drivable)Fast truck

800.00 OBO PS.must take truck"

"hi there, i have a 1991 chev beauville van, it does have high milege , its a 350, with 700 *****, all wiring, drive it home, looking for 300??? it does however use alittle oil, either leaks it or valve seals, if the motor is out it takes an afternoon to put in a ring kit, no matter what motor you buy i highly reccommend this as valve seals dry out over time and it only will cost an extra 200 for every thing. thanks Shawn"

I don't reaaaly wanna buy another truck as I do not have space for it, and I do not have my full license yet so I can't drive and pick it up.

If you must do the swap, 305 OR 350 would be the way to go. Diesel swaps are a pain in the ***, and diesel isnt coming down below 3 bucks for a while.

The 2.2 is a great motor though. I had 95 S10 with 2.2 that had 200k on it, ran like a top, and is still going I think. You could always do rest of the truck first, drive it as is and do a motor swap in a year or so.

Now really would be the time for the motor swap, as I cannot drive it myself until next year.

yeah if you are to do one now would be a good time since you cant drive it. however are you doing swap to make it a daily driver when you get you license, so a weekend toy? (didnt go back to ur 1st post to see)

if you are wanting to use this as a dd, i may opt to rebuild the 2.2 and do other stuff to the truck over the year. The 2.2 really is a good motor with good gas milage. Drive the truck for a few years until it is time for a new car. Buy a new car and then start working on your v8 swap.

V8 swaps(into anything)have alot of hiding costs/problems ect. that come up. Not saying they cant be a good dd, but more like its better to have a 2nd car for backup.

also when looking for a used engine, i always find that the ones that are still in the car and running are good picks as it is easier to check for porblems (smoke, noise compression checks ect.). But most of the time the guys want to get rid of the whole car.

I'm not looking for a shitload of power..

I may turbo the 2.2

i dont think you know what you want. i just think you want speeeed //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

let me give you something else to pounder. what you doing about your system? regular cab s10s have no room to get loud. lol

My regular cab as been giving it to me in the audio dept since i have owned it.

also am purtty sure there are not mass produced turbo kits for the 2.2. you would proly have to build your own, or find someone that has already made a kit.

Already researched this ..

got most of it figured out, I even went and bought a turbo on ebay.. I used a money order and buddy dragged it out and I couldn't try to get my money back so I got ripped off..

I will be doing a blowthrough with two Mach 5 SPL-12s and hopefully a Massive P3000.1

Those 6.2 GM engines were trash. Stick with the Iron Duke 2.2, and bag that bish.

And V8 diesels DO NOT get that good of MPG. My father in law, has an '06 with teh 6 speed allison, and the BEST he's gotten was 18 mpg. The older diesels are 5x worse. They're mules.

If its not a Duramax, or Cummins...dont do diesel. And for that matter, only do diesel with an allison ******.
